If you are looking for either a relaxing holiday by the pool and lazy walks around the estate, a friendly boules game or stepping up a gear for an energetic gym/tennis session; body surfing on the local beaches or hiking across Dartmoor, Hollyhocks can offer the perfect base for those looking to unwind and enjoy the beautiful Devon countryside.

Sit in your own small private garden with arbour swing seat and barbecue patio area or take the opportunity to picnic around the pool, in the meadows or the walled garden. Well behaved dogs are welcomed on leads at all times on the estate, we provide during your stay a clean dog towel, blanket, an extendable lead to borrow and dog poo bags to be disposed of in the refuse bins. (dogs are excluded in the walled garden)
The beautifully maintained private estate’s facilities include an outside heated swimming pool, indoor pool, gym, tennis court, table tennis, boules pitch and a games room within the old walled garden children’s garden play area.
The estate has 28 acres of meadowland, woods, paddocks and fields plus the lake to enjoy, relax in or explore. A picnic basket and blanket are provided plus binoculars and nature identification books. Tennis rackets and balls, table tennis paddles, pingpong balls and boules supplied for visitors to borrow.


The sound of the forest, the scent of the trees, the sunlights playing through the leaves, the fresh clean air, these things will give you a sense of calm and comfort. There are plenty of quiet areas on the estate under the magnificent trees for ‘shinrin-yoku’ forest bathing.

Being near water, the sight and sound, can provide a wide range of health benefits including reducing stress and anxiety, lowering the heart rate and feeling calmer. Water is all around you at Colmer, you can sit beside the lake, meander along wooden walkway under the gunnera plants that crosses Colmer brook or listen to the trickling steams. The negative ions will help with your ability to absorb oxygen, improve serotonin levels and help you feel rejuvenated.
